mission statement

“as time goes on, you’ll understand. what lasts, lasts; what doesn’t, doesn’t. time solves most things. and what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself”

– haruki murakami

our mission

lavender bones is a space of growth and persistence, like flowers blooming after the harshest of winters, or how our skeletons and memories exist long after we are gone. here, we encourage you to think not of life and death as ends, but as two sides of the same coin; think not of change as frightening, but something to embrace. we accept all different themes and styles of writing, as well as visual art, but we are most interested in those with a focus on cycles of life, death, relationships, nature, and existence itself. show us how you view the world through these lenses. we want your creative metaphors, lyrical prose, and descriptive imagery—your art. tell us your stories of growth.
